Liberty Home Guard (LHG) is a relative newcomer to the home warranty industry compared to providers that have been around for decades. Still, it stands out for its highly customizable suite of optional coverage add-ons, live-chat customer service feature, and glowing reputation in the industry. As a result, we recommend LHG to any homeowners who seek coverage for uncommonly covered items, such as window washing, gutter cleaning, pest control, and more.
After reviewing dozens of providers across the country, we determined that Liberty Home Guard is one of the best home warranty companies available. In this review, we’ll dive into LHG’s plan offerings, costs, coverage limits, availability, and what real-life customers have to say about their experiences.

Liberty Home Guard Rating and Review
In our review standards, we considered key metrics, such as number of plan options, industry reputation, and additional features, for each home warranty provider. Liberty Home Guard scored 4.2 out of 5 stars in our rating system.
Liberty Home Guard scored highly for its available plans, add-ons, customer support, and industry reputation. However, its monthly prices are on the higher end of the industry average, and it didn’t rate as well there. It lost the most points in the additional features category because its base plans exclude high-end appliances, you’re not able to choose your own contractor, and it doesn’t offer an option to raise your coverage limits.
Here’s how we rated Liberty Home Guard on key metrics:
- Available Plans (5 out of 5): LHG earned all the available points in this category because it offers three plans, one of which is a combo plan, and more than 20 additional coverage options.
- Plan Coverage (4.6 out of 5): LHG rated well for plan coverage, only losing a fraction of a point because its coverage caps are only $2,000 for all covered items.
- Price Range (4 out of 5): LHG’s monthly plan pricing is slightly higher than the average range we calculated from more than 35 home warranty providers. However, its service fee is less than $75 per month.
- Industry Reputation (4.5 out of 5): LHG has a solid industry reputation, with a good rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB); it also provides a sample contract available online. It only lost a partial point as some may view its youth in the industry as a potential downside.
- Customer Support (4.9 out of 5): LHG scored highly for 24/7 support and its online portal, plus its live-chat feature. However, it doesn’t guarantee a claim response within 24 business hours as some competitors do.
- Additional Features (2.7 out of 5): LHG earned points for roof-leak coverage, coverage for ceiling and exhaust fans, and coverage for faucets and fixtures. It lost points because it doesn’t provide an upgrade package, you can’t choose your own contractor, and its base plans exclude high-end appliances.
Liberty Home Guard Coverage Options
Liberty Home Guard offers three plan options. Appliance Guard covers many of your kitchen and laundry appliances, while Systems Guard covers your built-in systems, such as your air conditioning. Total Home Guard offers comprehensive coverage for all covered items in the two basic plans.
While other service providers offer 30-day workmanship guarantees, LHG’s 60-day workmanship guarantee is double that length. This guarantee provides peace of mind if a covered appliance or built-in system breaks within two months of service by an LHG technician, the company will send another technician at no additional charge.
Appliance Guard
The Appliance Guard plan covers your home’s appliances, including your clothes washer, clothes dryer, refrigerator with ice maker and display, built-in microwave oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, range/oven/cooktop, ceiling and exhaust fans, and garage door openers.
Systems Guard
The Systems Guard plan covers your home’s built-in systems, including your air conditioning, heating, ductwork, plumbing, electrical, and water heaters.

Liberty Home Guard Pricing
Liberty Home Guard’s plan pricing ranges from roughly $49 to $60 per month, depending on your selection. You can expect to pay a service call fee between $65 and $125 each time you file a claim. The service call fee is similar to an insurance deductible, meaning you’ll need to pay it before you receive service. Unlike other providers in the industry, LHG’s service call fees aren’t variable to allow you to adjust your monthly fee. Instead, the company assigns you a service call fee within this range based on your plan selection, add-ons, and your location.
All pricing information used in this article is based on a single-family home in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Liberty Home Guard Coverage Caps
Liberty Home Guard’s coverage limits are straightforward. Every plan is subject to a $2,000 coverage cap per covered item. Without pro-series appliance coverage, some brand names may be limited to $1,000 per item. We recommend reviewing a sample contract for more information about exclusions and limitations.

Our Recommendation
Liberty Home Guard is an excellent choice for any homeowner looking for a home warranty provider that covers more than the run-of-the-mill built-in systems and appliances. Though it’s easy to find a provider to protect your home’s HVAC and kitchen equipment, not all home warranty companies offer coverage for pro-series appliances, lighting fixtures, wine coolers, or other similar items in your home.
With LHG, you can choose from the standard base packages for your typical built-in systems and appliances, plus select up to 38 optional add-ons to customize your coverage for your home’s specific needs.

How We Chose the Top Home Warranty Providers
Our team reviewed and researched dozens of home warranty providers, thoroughly analyzed sample agreements, and identified customer pain points based on customer-review analysis and interviews with industry experts. Our in-depth methodology guides our review process to provide transparent information about the companies we review.
During this process, we determined that the most critical aspects of a home warranty company include available service plans and add-ons, depth of coverage, plan cost, industry reputation, customer support infrastructure, and additional features. We also focused on the ability to choose your own contractor, upgrade your coverage package, transfer your plan to another owner, and cover roof leaks, high-end appliance brands, ceiling and exhaust fans, and faucets and fixtures.
Our research supported that plan coverage should carry the most weight, with customer support as the second-most important factor. Industry reputation, plan availability, and additional features were rated equally. Therefore, we determined that price range, while worth considering, should not be the primary basis for choosing a home warranty provider for your home’s needs.
