Mayflower Moving Services Offered
Mayflower provides a comprehensive list of services, including a full range of residential moving package options, small move assistance, and vehicle shipping.
Local Moving
Mayflower provides dedicated moving assistance for moves under 50 miles. Its 200-plus moving agents offer quality assistance for clients booking hourly moving services. Local relocations can include nearly any service that Mayflower offers. However, clients typically forgo conveniences such as vehicle shipping when moving short distances.
Small Moves
Mayflower’s Snapmoves service applies to relocations of one- to three-bedroom apartments and smaller one-bedroom houses. Other small relocations could qualify for this moving package, including single-item moves or the redistribution of family heirlooms to relatives across state lines. All Snapmoves include full-value protection, labor, assembly and disassembly, and a personal move coordinator.
Long-Distance Moves
Mayflower offers full-value protection with all of its binding long-distance moving quotes. This can lead to higher moving costs, but clients always have the option to opt out of this coverage. In its absence, you’ll have released liability coverage, the minimum amount required by the industry (60 cents per pound per item).
All long-distance quotes begin with a video call or in-person consultation from one of Mayflower’s local agents. Move packages include everything from partial packing services to broader full-service assistance and auto transport.
International Moves
Mayflower Transit offers international moving services to 150 countries. All international move plans include a mandatory in-home inspection of your goods and a personal move coordinator. Full packing and customs clearance are included. You also receive logistics management throughout the entirety of your move.

Mayflower Moving Cost
Free quotes take move distance, inventory, and service needs into account. Most Mayflower moves begin with an in-home consultation. Your move coordinator will ask about ease of access to your current and new homes. You’ll typically pay a premium rate for debris pickup or cleaning services after moving out. All service needs will be factored into your final moving cost.
Local moves are priced at hourly rates. Typically, you’ll be quoted a ballpark figure for a local move, and your actual price will be determined by how long your move takes. Mayflower’s long-distance and international move rates, however, are binding. Your move coordinator will quote you a price that won’t shift unless your service package or inventory weight changes. However, all binding rates are subject to change on moving day. Shipping weights are estimated and can change when your moving truck is weighed after loading.
We called Mayflower for a quote and were only able to get a ballpark estimate. According to our company representative, a three-bedroom, 2,800-mile move would cost between $11,600 and $12,900. Basic assembly and disassembly plus labor and furniture protection are included in this figure; added services, such as packing and storage, cost extra. As a carrier, Mayflower does not require deposits to book.
What Homeowner Reviews Say About Mayflower Moving
Mayflower reviews largely depend on local partner quality in a given location. We read a number of Mayflower reviews on Google Reviews and noted that positive reviews mention its movers’ efficiency when handling large and long-distance moves. However, negative reviews mention quality variance for local moving crews and pricing shifts on moving day. We recommend reading reviews for your local Mayflower affiliate before booking to ensure quality moving services at a reasonable price.

Our Recommendation
Mayflower is an excellent option for clients staging larger long-distance moves and expedited small moves. Its moving teams and affiliates in 46 states make basic and add-on services easily accessible, and its binding estimates help eliminate the sticker shock you could experience on moving day.
We recommend requesting moving quotes from at least three providers before booking. Doing this early in your moving process helps ensure your move goes smoothly and that all of your service needs are met.
Mayflower Moving FAQ
What are binding estimates?
Binding estimates are price points that do not shift between the day you receive your quote and your moving day unless you add inventory or service requirements to your move. This applies to long-distance moves, as local moves are typically billed hourly. Binding estimates can shift on moving day if your goods weigh more than expected. All quotes based on shipping weight involve some guesswork.
Is full-value protection included in my Mayflower move?
Mayflower includes full-value protection in all moving quotes it provides. This typically covers all goods at up to $6 per pound per item. If you multiply that by the total weight of your goods, you can estimate your coverage cost at 3% to 6% of this total number.
What is UniGroup?
UniGroup is the umbrella company that owns Mayflower Moving and United Van Lines. Together, these companies comprise one of the largest moving networks in the country.
Do I have to pay a deposit after my in-home estimate?
No, you don’t have to pay a deposit after your in-home estimate. Mayflower does not require deposits to book a move.
How We Chose the Top Moving Providers
We researched and analyzed dozens of full- and self-service moving companies and formulated a moving review methodology based on a number of factors, including package options, pricing, and reputation. We also identified customer pain points based on customer-review analysis, proprietary consumer surveys, and interviews with former and current moving professionals.
Speaking directly to a representative at each company, we determined the number of package options available, the coverage provided, the types of moves available (long-distance, local, and international), and any extra perks offered, such as mobile apps, moving checklists, and 24/7 customer service.
We also gathered pricing data from each company and determined whether they provide ballpark estimates or binding quotes. Finally, to determine reputation, we evaluated companies based on their rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and their overall score on Google Reviews.
