Green Home Systems Solar Reviews

We analyzed 100 Google Reviews for Green Home Systems to gauge customers’ experiences. Positive reviews praised the company’s excellent system performance and the resulting energy bill savings. Homeowners also mentioned good experiences with project managers when planning and installing their solar projects.

Negative reviews reported poor communication with their local installers and delayed installations. Some homeowners claimed the issue was with the local installers, not GHS itself. In some cases, they had to request a different installation team to complete the project.

Here’s a sample of the GHS customer reviews:

“They did everything they promised resulting in a professional (appearance) completely functional system, which immediately reduced our energy bill. It has been in place in the Arizona sun for 18 months with no problems. Every question or issue has been immediately resolved to our satisfaction. The only reason they did not get five stars was the time between signing the contract to delivery of the equipment through installation.” —Dwayne B. via Google Reviews

“I had the solar panels installed in 2021, and it’s been great. I love the electric bill. It’s a great company, and they have always gotten back to me in a timely manner. Very nice people to talk with and helpful. They answered every question I threw at them. The reason I gave them a 4-star rating is because the first company they sent out didn’t know what they were doing. Then they sent a man named Roy, and he was great; he knew where everything was supposed to go.” —Susan K. via Google Reviews

“We are enjoying our solar system finally. Green solar was delayed after we signed the contract for one reason or another. We had given up on the entire project. But they did make it right. The contractor they hired was great, very professional, and he completed our job above our expectations. The only other problem we encountered was delaying the payment to the contractor, but Green Solar made right on this as well.” —Angela B. via Google Reviews

“They mailed their system to my house instead of sending it to the installer, and [it sat] in my front yard for almost a month. They promised a rebate check that still hasn’t arrived after almost three months. They don’t respond to calls since system has been installed, only reply with text and email.” —Georgie C. via Google Reviews

Panel Options

Green Home Systems offers a variety of solar panels from leading manufacturers, including Panasonic, LG Solar, and LONGi. All panels are monocrystalline, the most energy-efficient type of solar panel. Monocrystalline panels also have a low-profile, sleek black design that easily blends in with your roof.

Green Home also has a selection of solar roofing options. These panels are designed to cover or replace your existing roofing material, combining the durability of traditional roofing shingles with the long-term cost savings of solar panels

GHS’ solar roofs are from CertainTeed, a leading manufacturer of solar technology. The Apollo II solar shingles system uses monocrystalline solar shingles in its designs. The Apollo Tile II system integrates into flat concrete tile configurations. Both roofing options are lightweight, watertight, and wind-resistant.

Additional equipment options include inverters from SolarEdge and SolarArk, plus microinverters from Enphase. You can supplement your system with solar battery options from Enphase, LG, Solar, and Homegrid Energy. The company also offers non-solar backup generators from Generac.

Warranty Options

Each GHS solar panel system has a 25-year equipment warranty, including panel and inverter protection. Customers receive a 25-year workmanship warranty covering any issues caused by a faulty installation. GHS also provides a 25-year performance guarantee that protects your panels’ power output for the duration of coverage.

Coverage for solar roofing differs from traditional panels. Both roofing options have output guarantees and inverter coverage. They also include a wind warranty that guarantees your shingles or tiles will remain in place in weather conditions up to 110 mph. Here’s a breakdown of the coverage for each solar roofing system.

The Apollo II solar shingle system includes the following coverage:

  • 25-year output guarantee
  • 10-year warranty for the inverter
  • 25-year warranty for all other CertainTeed components
  • 10-year 110 mph wind warranty

The Apollo Tile II solar system varies slightly, including the following coverage:

  • 25-year output guarantee
  • 10-year warranty for the inverter
  • 10-year warranty for all other CertainTeed components
  • 10-year 110 mph wind warranty

Installation and Offered Services

Homeowners can begin the Green Home Systems installation process by calling the company or filling out an interest form online. The company’s five-step installation process is outlined below.

  1. Virtual consultation: A GHS representative will create a custom quote based on your home’s energy needs and structure. Your quote will include projected energy savings and system details. You can also ask questions about your new system or the installation process
  2. In-person surveying: You’ll receive an in-person visit from one of the company’s surveyors. They’ll take roof measurements to custom-build your system to your home’s specifications.
  3. Signing the agreement: After finalizing the details of your solar system, GHS will provide a final agreement with your contract terms, system information, and any additional costs for solar accessories or upgrades
  4. System installation: GHS uses certified installers in each service area to complete its projects. The assigned team handles the entire process, from submitting necessary permits to coordinating site inspections.
  5. Final approvals and activation: Once your installation is completed, local GHS installers will handle the final city permits and approval. They will also coordinate with your local utility company for activation. Once your system is granted permission to operate (PTO), your solar project will be operational.

Green Home Systems has a free mobile app that provides system monitoring from your phone, tablet, or computer. Customers can contact customer service via phone, email, or the live chat feature on the website with questions about their service.

Green Home Systems Cost and Payment Options

GHS custom builds each system, so it doesn’t provide cost information online. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the average solar system costs around $20,000. Other factors, such as your energy usage, system size, and roof configuration, will also impact the cost of your solar panels

GHS offers two payment options for its systems: up-front cash payment and solar loans, which start as low as .99% APR. The company has five main loan lenders, each with ten loan options. Cash payments and solar loans qualify you for cost-saving solar incentives, such as the federal solar tax credit. This incentive provides a credit equal to 30% of your solar power installation costs. The credit is applied to your federal taxes, helping to reduce or eliminate them. Additional state and city-level incentives may provide even more solar system savings.
